A recent government survey has brought to light the concerns of parents regarding a potential decline in their children's physical activity during the colder months.
With 57% of parents fearing that their children will become less active in autumn and winter, the ‘Let’s Move!’ campaign endeavours to counter this trend by motivating families to maintain year-round activity. The initiative also pledges funding to regions most in need, ensuring that children remain engaged in physical pursuits.
The ‘Let’s Move!’ initiative issupported by Sport England, with a focus on families playing together and making little changes everyday so the benefits of activity will be more easily felt, for everyone. Engaging local activitieseg going for a walk or playing at the park or at home physical activityrather than traditional sports ‘Let’s move’ aims to increase physical activity aiming towards the recommended 60 minutes per day for every child for health and well being.
This is what I have always advocated with my own family as well as through Haktive and I’d love to share a couple of top tips:
Go for a walk - layer up so they are comfortable and can take layers off once they have run around and warmed up. You know you’ve done a good job when they start taking the layers off.

At home - Spell your name with your body, or try the alphabet, create a message. Active challenges at home using every day items can be a lot of fun.
